Installation Help
Until further notice, Create-A-World (aka CAW) has been experiencing
issues that prevent a new world exported AFTER the Seasons' patch to
install correctly. The issue is that the world for whatever reason will
install but then not be available to choose when you load the game.
Luckily there is a way around this and the instructions for that are
below.
To Install a World Exported From CAW After
the Seasons Patch for Windows:
1. Download the world and unzip the file.
2. Double click the Simpack file so the launcher will "install"
it.
3. Once completed, go to your My Documents/EA/Sims3/DCBackup
folder.
4. The most recent, largest file should be your newly installed
world. Copy this file.
5. Go to My Computer and go to C:/....Program Files
(x86)/EA/TheSims3/GameData/Shared/NonPackaged/Worlds and you will paste
that file into this folder.
6. You must then rename the file you just pasted to be the name of
the world and then remove the package extension and change it to .world.
Your final text should look something like this:
Storybrook County.world
7. To change the file name, right click on it and rename.
8. It will ask if you are sure you want to change the extension -
and yes, you are sure!
9. Load up your new game and viola your world will be installed and an
option.
To Install a World Exported From CAW After
the Seasons Patch on a Mac:
1. Download the file and unzip the package.
2. Install the world into the game through the launcher.
3. Go to the Finder -> Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 3 ->
DCBACKUP
4. The last and possibly largest file there should be your installed
world. Copy that file.
5. Now go to Finder -> Applications -> The Sims 3 -> The Sims 3 (The
BASE Game)
6. Right click on the sims 3 and select "Show Package Contents"
7. There will be 1 or more "Shared" Folders, depending on how many EP's
you have. Click on one.
8. Paste the file you copied from the DCBACKUP folder into the Shared
Folder.
9. Rename the file so that it's the name of the world and so that it
ends with ".world" like -> "Storybrook County.world"
10. Voila! Now you can play your game with your desired world without an
issue.
Troubleshooting
If you are having trouble renaming the file, then
chances are your file extension is hidden. By default, Windows
hides the extensions so you don't see them. To make them visible,
follow the directions at one of the sites below. Afterwards you
will see the extensions for all files and then you can complete the
process. *NOTE* Remember to change it back to hidden after
you are done or you risk rendering something useless if you change the
file extension by mistake!

If you have correctly installed the world but your save disappears after
you close the world, here are some ideas from other simmers who have had
success with these tips.
- Try loading the world and then immediately save prior to moving in
your family or playing the game.
- Remove any CC content that you have... this stuff really can mess with
a custom world.
